Coaching during Isolation – Online Possibilities

Online coaching is a new ways of working, and it has come into its own with the changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. ‘Blended Learning’ has been around for some time – a mix or distant and face-to-face techniques that can be used brilliantly for coaching. When we can’t meet face-to-face, technology enables us to connect, and build dynamic relationships remotely; this can give us unexpected insights and it opens up possibilities for positive change. Let’s look at what we’ve got…

In-Time using  Zoom or Skype

I have become familiar with using these communication platforms recently,  and I really like it. There is a directness and a focus about this form of communication. Some people are resistant and believe nothing can replace face to face, real life communication, but needs must – and there are advantages to having coaching conversations online:

  • There is a directness and focus
  • No unnecessary travel – people and planet win
  • Less cost involved
  • Coach and client can share resources in-time

I can put up a short video clip and we can discuss it; I can post some PowerPoint slides or send a document through immediately for you to read. There is scope to do and share more in this way.

Phone Coaching

Some people will prefer this to using computers and there are advantages to phone coaching too. It becomes a more focused coaching session, and although the coach has no physical clues, it is surprising what the tone of voice and use of words convey. Again, this means that we both save on travel and that costs are kept down.

Blended Coaching

This is a mix of face-to-face (when it is safe to do so), online and phone coaching. You can chose what suits you best.

The client is at the center of the coaching  – its your agenda, your goals, your life; therefore, you can negotiate how you want to be coached. I am prepared to work with you using whatever works best for you.

Relationships can be developed in many ways, as long as you want to change and achieve your goals.  Your goals can be related to career, stress, work-life balance, developing resilience, making important decisions, motivation, overwhelm, confidence. Just call for a free discovery chat now and we can take it from there.

Let your journey begin

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice–
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do–
determined to save
the only life you could save.
